WALSALL 20PTS BEAT MOSELEY 5PTS BY 13 RUNS
Put into bat Walsall found themselves struggling at 35 for 4 in the ninth over, with captain Moseley captain Fred Eburah taking all four wickets before injury forced him out of the attack in the 15th over.
The home side were indebted to Paul Byrne, with 76 from just 80 balls, and Mateen Khan 37 from 51 balls, to reach their final total of 208, which included 36 runs coming off the last two overs. The “Griffs” also contributed 34 extras to the total in another untidy bowling display.
In reply, Jake Sammons, with 67 from 97 balls, supported by the top order saw the Griffs to 148 for 4 in the 40th over, but the lower order was unable to carry on the good work and the Griffs slipped to a disappointng 13 run defeat.
Inconsistency and ill discipline in the bowling department has undermined what has been a largely promising start to the season.
Next week sees the “Griffs” on the road again as they visit Barnt Green in the first game of the 55 over format.
