MOSELEY 134 for 8 from 50 overs
Imandeep Kang 48
Jugdip Nandra 24
SMETHWICK 69 ALL OUT off 21.1 Overs
Yadvinder Singh 8 for 34
RESULT: MOSELEY 20PTS BEAT SMETHWICK 3PTS BY 65 RUNS
Put into bat on a challenging looking wicket the Griffs slumped to 25 for 5 in the 14th over with Sajid Ahmedazai taking three of the wickets to fall for just 11 runs.
Once again, Imandeep Kang and Jugdip Nandra steadied the ship with a seventh wicket partnership of 61, before Nandra was dismissed for 24 in the 44th over. Looking to complete a second half century of the season, Imandeep was stumped for 48 in an attempt to boost the Griffs total. The innings eventually closed on 134 for 8.
In reply the home side slumped from 26 for 0 after six overs to 69 all out, thanks to an outstanding spell of bowling from Yadvinder Singh, who took 8 for 34 from his 10 overs – a personal Birmingham League best performance – all eight wickets coming in a 32 ball spell whilst conceding just 14 runs, during which he was twice on a “hat trick.”
Despite losing their first game ironically due to some wayward bowling, the Griffs have made a promising start to the campaign and next week play their first home game of the season against Kenilworth Wardens.
Let’s hope for more of the same success!
