In the only Premier League game to be played to a result, the Griffs slipped to an 11 run defeat on their return to the top flight of the Birmingham League.
Asked to bat first, the hosts reached 30 before losing their first wicket, but then slipped to 49 for 5 in the 14th over as they struggled against Eburah 2 for 30 and Singh 3 for 35.
A sixth wicket stand of 78 between Ibbotson and Swift, which was helped by 27 extras, boosted the home team’s innings before they were bowled out for 149 in the 50th over, with Alex Thomson picking up 3 for 15 late on.
In reply the Griffs struggled slipping to 45 for 5 in the 15th over, as Mike Barnard took 4 for 31 from his 10 overs.
A fine unbeaten 56 from 90 balls by Imandeep Kang gave the Griffs a glimmer of hope of victory, but Aussie Liam Lofts with 4 for 32 saw the hosts to victory.
The Griffs were left to rue a number of no balls and wides which had a significant influence on the outcome of the game.
Weather permitting the Griffs visit fellow promoted side Smethwick, lets hope for a better outcome!.
