Put into bat the hosts were restricted to 44 for 2 in the first 10 over power play, by tight bowling from Eburah and Phagura. However, captain Sam Reddish with 115 not out from 99 balls, with support from Brookes and Rigg saw the home side reach 276 for 8 from their allotted overs, with 89 runs coming in the last 10 overs of the innings.
In reply the depleted Griffs were soon struggling, slipping to 18 for 3 in the ninth over but a fighting 71 from just 57 balls from Jugdip Nandra, with support from Kang 36 and Phagura 34, and in a ninth wicket partnership of 55 with Usman Awan saw the Griffs eventually dismissed for 198.
Next week the Griffs travel to Sandwell Park to play West Bromwich Dartmouth in the first 55 over game of the season incorporating the inaugural “uncontested toss” under the new League ruling.
The Griffs will be looking for a change in fortune and an improvement in results and player availability.
