In perfect cricketing weather Moseley won the toss, for only the second time this season, and elected to bat.
Aadam Din (96) and Abdullah Awan (61), amassed a season’s best 143 for the first wicket inside 28 overs, before Awan was dismissed off Daly’s first ball. Din’s innings ended four short of a deserved century with a soft caught and bowled again to Daly.
Robert Yates and Liam Devlin kept the board ticking over, as Tamworth used no fewer than seven bowlers. Moseley posted a seasons’ best of 296 for 6 from their 55 overs.
In reply, the hosts struggled against the Griffs attack lead by Naqaash Tahir who was again in fine form taking 4 for 28 from 11 overs of top class seam bowling. Flight and guile from Ali Awan, a seasons’ best of 4 for 37, and Usman Awan chipping in with 2 for 19 wrapped up a comprehensive victory with more than five overs to spare.
With other teams towards the top of the table losing, this victory moved Moseley to the head of the pack!
Next week sees the Griffs travel to Barnards Green, let’s hope for more of the same.
