RESULT: MOSELEY 20PTS BEAT HIMLEY 4PTS BY 4 RUNS.
Moseley snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as Himley lost their last 3 wickets in the space of 4 balls to lose a match that always appeared under their control.
Moseley lost the toss and asked to bat first Abdullah Awan (69) and Aadam Din (47) put on a steady 76 inside the first 20 overs to lay a solid foundation for the team to press on – which never really happened!
Pegged back to 107 for 3 in the 31st over it was left to Steve Sandhu 36 off 56 balls, supported by Abdullah to steer Moseley to their final total of 201 for 6, a score thought to be 20-30 short of par.
In reply, Worcestershire’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore gave the hosts a flying start with 25 off just 12 balls and with Wright, Boroughs and Turner all scoring 30 or more, Himley were always in front of the required rate.
Wedge and Turner’s partnership of 56 for the 7th wicket took the hosts to 188 for 6 with still 12 overs to go, but Wedge’s mistimed drive straight to Aadam Din, quickly followed by Turner’s pull to Nandra at deep square leg (held at the third attempt!) gave Moseley scent of an unlikely victory which was quickly achieved when Naqaash Tahir took the last two wickets at the start of his final over.
